ClinicalKey app: Resource information

The ClinicalKeyapp - available in both iOS and Android form - providesfull-text access to the web-based Australian version of ClinicalKey.

ClinicalKey is a medical search engine and database tool offering access to the Elsevier medical library. The service includes online books, journals, videos, drug information and procedures.

  • Note: Access to Clinical Trials and First Consult is only available via the web version of ClinicalKey.
  • Note: Access to the ClinicalKey app needs to be renewed every 12 months.

User profiles can be used to download book chapter PDFs, access in-text videos, save searches, create alerts and enable mobile access for the ClinicalKey app.

  1. Log into ClinicalKey Australia using the proxied ANZCA link (users will be required to authenticate using their ANZCA ID and password)
  2. Select the Register link from the top-right of screen
  3. Complete the registration form:
    • First name
    • Family name (surname)
    • Email
  4. Click the Register > button when complete

Android (Google Play) - Access: Free

B: Registering for Mobile Access

  1. Users must contact ANZCA Library to register for access: Library feedback form
  2. Enter the following details:
    • What is your feedback/request related to? = ClinicalKey app registration
    • Name
    • College ID
    • Email address
    • Description/comments = CK app
  3. Click the Submit button when complete

Once submitted, please allow 3 working days for library staff to process your request.

IMPORTANT: Completing your registration requires that you associate your registration ID with an existing user profile (personal account) in ClinicalKey Australia. If you do not already have a user profile set up, then see above for instructions on how to Create a user profile in ClinicalKey Australia before completing the following steps.

C: Registration email

  1. Once the ANZCA Library registers you for access, you will receive the following Your ScienceDirect Registration ID email:

  1. Click on the https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/register link
  2. The Elsevier Get Access prompt will display:

  1. Enter the Registration ID and Passcode(Password) that were supplied in the email and click the Continue button
  2. The Welcome prompt will display:

  1. Enter the Email address that you used to create your ClinicalKey user profile (see above) and click the Continue button
  2. The Sign In prompt will display:

  1. This will allow you to associate your ClinicalKey user profile with your remote ID account
    • Email (will display as entered on the previous screen)
    • Enter your ClinicalKey user profile Password
  2. Click the Sign In button when complete – you will be taken to the ScienceDirect home page

Your registration is now complete.

D: On your mobile device:

  1. Ensure the ClinicalKey app is installed
  2. If you have not previously accessed the app, then swipe through the introductory screens and click the Done button
  3. You will be prompted to Choose Edition:
    • Select Australia

  1. You will be prompted to Choose Role:
    • Select ClinicalKey

  1. You will be prompted for your ClinicalKey user profile details:
    • Enter your Username = email address
    • Enter your Password

  1. Select the grey Login button
  2. You will be taken to the ClinicalKey home page

Your device is now enabled for access for 12 MONTHS (at which point it will need to be renewed using the process above).

The following instructions can be used to reset your ClinicalKey app registration password:

  1. Go to the Forgotten Password link
  2. Enter your email address and click Submit
  3. You will received an email from the ScienceDirect Message Center:
    • Subject =Forgotten username or password
  4. Click on the Reset Password link
  5. Enter and re-enter your updated password and click Submit

These updated credentials can now be used to log into the app.

CME/CPD notes

ClinicalKey supports Internet Point of Care learning (IPoC), which is a certified Continuing Medical Education (CME) activity that allows physicians the opportunity to identify and research a topic relevant to their clinical practice. CME credit/time is available for the following content types: books, Clinical Overviews, and published journal articles.
