The Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Research Centre (ANZIC-RC) is a bi-national intensive care clinical research methods centre. The ANZIC-RC assists with the design, funding and execution of clinical trials. Advice and assistance is available from experienced intensive care unit (ICU) researchers, data management/bio-statistical consultants, project managers, epidemiologists and health economists. The Centre coordinates and conducts comprehensive research programs including observational studies; feasibility projects; and large multi-centred, interventional, randomised controlled trials. It has the ability to support small, medium and large clinical trials.

The Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Society is the leading advocate on all intensive care related matters. ANZICS leads the world in intensive care research through its Clinical Trials Group and patient databases, including the Adult Patient Database, the Paediatric Intensive Care Registry and Critical Care Resources. The Society is devoted to all aspects of intensive care medical practice through ongoing profes​sional education, the provision of leadership in medical settings, clinical research and analysis of critical care resources.

The Australian College of Critical Care Nurses Ltd (ACCCN) is a not for profit membership-based organisation representing over 2,300 nurses nationally. The College’s members work across the critical care clinical spectrum, principally in the area of intensive care, in clinical, educational, management, and research roles.

The College of Intensive Care Medicine is the body responsible for intensive care medicine specialist training and education in Australia and New Zealand. The College offers a minimum six year training program, in both general and paediatric intensive care, with a number of assessments, culminating in Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine (FCICM). The College has over 1000 Fellows throughout the world. The main office is located in Melbourne, with regional committees throughout Australia, and national committees in Aotearoa New Zealand and Hong Kong.

The European Society of Intensive Care Medicine is an Association of individual persons. The ESICM was founded in March 1982 in Geneva, Switzerland. It is a non-profit making international association.

ESICM supports and promotes the advancement of knowledge in intensive care medicine, in particular the promotion of the highest standards of multidisciplinary care of critically ill patients and their families through education, research and professional development.

The Intensive Care Foundation was formed by the Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Society (ANZICS) in 1990.The Intensive Care Foundation is dedicated to improving the care of critically ill patients by raising funds for clinical research projects as well as the education of health professionals responsible for intensive care. Our ultimate aim is to improve the number and quality of lives saved in Intensive Care Units each year.

The Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) is the largest non-profit medical organization dedicated to promoting excellence and consistency in the practice of critical care. With members in more than 100 countries, SCCM is the only organization that represents all professional components of the critical care team. The Society offers a variety of activities that ensures excellence in patient care, education, research and advocacy.

The World Federation of Societies of Intensive and Critical Care Medicine (WFSICCM) was established in 1977 and is a membership organization comprised of National Societies of Intensive and Critical Care Medicine. The principle objective of the World Federation is to promote the highest standards of Intensive and Critical Care Medicine for all mankind, without discrimination.
