ANZCA & FPM CPD Program resources: COVID-19 airway management

The purpose of this guide is to provide fellows and CPD Program participants with information, suggestions and resourcing support specific to each of the programs activities. The target audience is those with clinical roles.

Activity: COVID-19 airway management Emergency response

COVID-19 airway management

  • Simulation activity which aims to ensure anaesthetists have recognised training for optimal patient airway management and infection control measures, in the context of COVID-19.

  • Participate in a COVID-19 airway management-related activity - find recognised courses and workshops on the college website.

Recognised emergency algorithms

Currently, ANZCA does not exclusively endorse any one emergency algorithm for COVID-19 situations. The ANZCA Library - in conjunction with the COVID-19 expert advisory group - has established the following clinical resources that may be useful for airway management and infection control and PPE.

COVID-19 Airway Management Emergency Response Module

These provider materials, provided by the authors of the COVID 19 Airway Team Training course demonstrate an approach to this training that may qualify for CPD points under ANZCA CPD Standards for COVID-19 Airway Management Emergency response education sessions.

Emergency response: CATT course

The CATT course uses the Safe Airway Society algorithms however providers may use these materials to create their own training materials using their preferred algorithms.
