ANZCA & FPM CPD Program resources: Peer review of practice

The purpose of this guide is to provide fellows and CPD Program participants with information, suggestions and resourcing support specific to each of the programs activities. The target audience is those with clinical roles.

Peer review of practice

  • A trusted colleague observes your practice, records their observations, and leads a feedback discussion regarding approaches to practice.

  • You can use a specialty-specific college guidelines (linked in the ANZCA & FPM resources section) to complete this activity.
  • If you use a different tool, it must be developed for peer review of a specialist and relevant to your scope of practice.
  • Both participants can claim CPD hours for this activity.

  • Lead the peer review for a colleagues practice
  • Work with a colleague in the same scope of practice to have your practice reviewed
  • Undertake a peer review for an ANZCA/FPM fellows clinical list management (aka scope list)
  • Undertake observation of an unplanned clinical list
  • Undertake a full day reciprocal assessment with a colleague in the same scope of practice

Note: A peer should be of equivalent standing and should avoid power imbalance for genuine feedback.
