Peer review of educational practice

  • Review your educational performance with a trusted colleague (involved in similar educational practice) through observation and constructive feedback.

  • Use the structured form based on the ANZCA educator competency framework to complete this activity.
  • If you use a different tool, it must be relevant to your scope of practice.
  • Both participants can claim CPD hours for this activity.

  • Review the facilitation of a tutorial
  • Review the running of a tutorial, workshop or presentation
  • Review the teaching of a long course
  • Review the assessment of a trainee/student
  • Review the work of an examiner
  • Review the undertaking of a workplace-based assessment or FPM workplace-based feedback
  • Review the provision of constructive feedback to a trainee or student
  • Review the development of a course
  • Review the piloting and evaluation of a course
  • Review the leading or membership of an educational committee or other group
  • Review the undertaking their own research
  • Review the supporting of the research careers and activities of others
  • Review the fostering of a supportive learning environment
  • Review the supporting of learners experiencing difficulties
  • Review the seeking of feedback on their own performance

  • Following the peer review of educational practice, either participant may choose to undertake an individual critical reflection activity to determine how to incorporate feedback received or reflect on the experience of providing feedback into practice improvement.
