How to use this guide

The ANZCA and FPM CPD Program operates on an annual cycle, with minimum hourly and activity requirements. Support resources for CPD activities are divided as follows:

How can I meet CPD requirements for my type of practice?

Mandatory annual activities

All fellows/CPD participants must complete:

A CPD plan and a CPD evaluation at the beginning and end of the year respectively
One (1) cultural safety activity annually

All New Zealand fellows/CPD participants must complete:

An annual structured conversation with a peer, colleague, or employer each year

Mandatory practice evaluation activity (clinical practice only)

Complete at least one (1) of the four (4) activities (Multi-source feedback, Peer review of practice, Patient experience survey, Clinical audit) each year

Mandatory emergency response activity (clinical practice only)

Complete at least one (1) emergency response activity each year

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Standard
CPD programs relevant to anaesthesia and pain medicine apply evidence-based educational activities that foster genuine continuing professional development.
CPD Mandatory Compliance Policy
This policy defines the CPD compliance requirements for ANZCA and FPM fellows, ANZCA provisional fellows, SIMGs, rural generalist anaesthetists, DHM specialists and other CPD participants of the ANZCA and FPM CPD program, in accordance with the ANZCA and FPM CPD standard.
CPD Special Consideration Policy
Fellows and other CPD participants who fail to meet minimum CPD requirements due to exceptional circumstances may apply for special consideration.

The purpose of this document is to support fellows and other CPD participants completing the ANZCA and FPM CPD Program under the clinical practice type

This document provides support for fellows and CPD participants who work in the private sector and complete CPD under the clinical practice type to meet their CPD requirements.
ANZCA and FPM CPD Program: Practice without direct patient care toolkit (supporting patient care)
The college supports ANZCA and FPM fellows and other Continuing Professional Development (CPD) participants to identify and complete CPD activities appropriate to their roles that don’t involve direct patient care but that support the health system and patient care.
